About Us
The Wasilla Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) was formed in 1948. The Wasilla SWCD, along with the other 11 SWCD's in Alaska, is a legal subdivision of the State of Alaska. Alaska's SWCDs have been empowered to develop and carry out natural resource conservation programs which affect their districts. The districts in the State of Alaska are represented by the Alaska Association of Conservation Districts, which is a formally organized non-profit corporation that assists districts in accomplishing collectively what is difficult for them to do independently. It provides administrative support to districts, as they receive and expend funds to carry out local programs.
Wasilla SWCD Board of Supervisors:
The Wasilla SWCD is managed by a board of five elected supervisors who represent local land users. Because the board members are local residents, they represent the community and are aware of local problems, issues, and needs.
